Christmas lights have been turned on in London. An 18-metre Christmas tree is on display in the square near the Covent Garden shopping centre. It was grown in the UK. 30,000 bulbs sparkle among the branches.
The building itself is also decorated with garlands. And inside, giant bells have frozen under the ceiling, as if they are about to ring. The shopping centre is always crowded. Tourists are attracted by shops selling luxury goods, restaurants with exquisite cuisine and a craft market.
And a giant peacock has taken up residence on the facade of this building in the Mayfair district. The installation belongs to the private club Annabel’s. With its help, it collects donations for food for children from poor families.
Nearby, above Bond Street, bottles of Chanel No. 5 perfume are hovering in the air, surrounded by sparkling lights. The design of the decorations is quite appropriate. Luxury stores are located here, including Prada, Cartier, as well as the famous London department stores Liberty and Fortnum & Mason.
Regent Street in the West End also has special decorations. Here, the atmosphere of magic is created by installations in the form of angels. The street runs from Waterloo Square to the intersection with Cavendish Place and Mortimer Street. Its length is almost 1,300 meters. The festive installation is called “The Spirit of Christmas”.
The London Eye, illuminated by bulbs, also fits into the glittering cityscape.
The festive illumination in London will be turned on every evening until at least January 5.
